Non-Governmental Organizations in East Africa
Provide International works in close collaboration with the NGO coordination bureau, the NGO council and NPO networks in Kenya. We plan to work with similar networks in Eastern, Central and Southern Africa as it continues to scale up its activities in the region.
Community Based Organizations (CBOs)
CBOs in Kenya have been used to aid given by donors. However they are poorly organized, no formulation principles, more often unaware of resources that are locally available. We focus on indigenous capacity building at Provide Development Areas (PDAs) established in district levels to empower and create awareness of resources that are available at the local level. Provide International intends to expand its current CBO base to other countries and beyond.
United Nations (UN)
Provide International works closely whenever possible with the UN and international agencies in this region to contribute towards meeting the Millennium Development Goals. These agencies include Bernard Van Leer Foundation, ICIPE, USAID, APHR and Norway Medical Universities (IFMSA)/University of Nairobi Medical Students Association.
Bi-lateral Donors
Provide International will approach and work closely with bi-lateral agencies that it believes are willing to support.
Networking
Provide International has made useful contacts with USAID, APHR, ICIPE, Government of Kenya- Ministry of Health and IFMSA. Currently APHR (African Population and Health Research) and Norway medical universities are supporting Provide community based health care services. VCT (Voluntary Counseling and Testing) is in collaboration with Provide International in Kasarani and Embakasi Districs in Nairobi and Nyeri District in Central Province in Kenya.
Government
We have established good working relationships with the Kenya Government at the nationals, provincial and district levels. This is evidenced by the support we get from the government when implementing the Korogocho, Dandora, Kayole Provice community based health care in Nairobi Province and PDAs in Eastern and Central Provinces in Kenya
Non-Governmental Organizations with Similar Mandate to Provide International
There are other NGOs in Kenya with overlapping mandates to Provide International. We collaborate therefore with these NGOs to enable civil society in this region to progress. The NGOs include AMSUN (UON), APHR, USAID and IFMSA(Norway)- Lions Club Bergen. |
